We're off to Gatlinburg in the eastern part of the state for Independence Day. We're leaving Tuesday afternoon and will arrive there in time for a parade at 12.01am! Yup, the city is the first city in the US to hold a 4th of July parade!
It's been an age since I last did a roadtrip. I enjoy them; stopping at new places along the way, long drives of conversation, short naps and staring out the window. Woohoo...I'm psyched!
Interesting place Gatlinburg: whitewater rafting, haunted house tours, a civil war battle re-enactment, trout fishing...but the creme de la creme has to be the walking tours on trails through the Smoky Mountains.
Four days of fun in the mountains. We'll be back on Saturday evening.
In the meantime...Happy 4th of July everyone! Be safe!
