About a bookstore...

One last post on my trip to Oz: I made one visit to a bookstore while I was in Perth. After several hours of shopping and jostling with crowds in the Murray and Hay Street malls, I popped into Dymocks for a breather.

Beautiful store. Wall to wall with books. But I didn't buy any. With an exchange rate of AUD1:SGD1.2, they were more expensive then the books in Singapore! Ack! So I just browsed. And I discovered something that Dymocks has that I've not seen in any other bookstore I've ever visited. Scattered among the many books, were little laminated cards. At first I thought they were sale prices for certain books on the shelves. But surprise! The cards were one paragraph book recommendations written by Dymocks employees. What a nice idea! I spent the next half hour walking among the fiction books reading those cards, taking note of some to buy during my next trip to a bookstore back home.
