An unexpected development: Mom suggested that my sis and I kidnap our father for a 2 week vacation to Egypt. That suggestion floored us! And it's perfect!
This would be the trip of a lifetime for us: 3 egyptophiles wondering through tombs, pyramids, temples and museums from Cairo to Luxor, breathing the air of ancient history. Mom has zero urge to journey through the Valley of Kings and clamber down into King Tut's tomb (can you imagine that?). Dust and scorpions give her the heebee-jeebees. And I know she would be miserable.
I just woke up D (can you believe she and G were sound asleep at around 1030pm on a Saturday night !?!) and broke the news in a 5 minute phone call. Think I left her wide awake with excitement.
The next person to convince is my Dad - but only after D and I have finalised some things. While I know he'd go in a flash, we'd have to work hard to convince him that Mom can manage by herself at home for 2 weeks (she's already planning some sleepovers with her girlfriends, for goodness sake!), and that all he has to worry about is getting on the plane as D as the whole trip planned. And that for my Dad...will be the MOST difficult thing in the world. LOL!
